As the title suggests, on Fridays I’m going to start posting outrageous food porn featuring things I’ve eaten and where to find them (or how to make them). I’m stealing this idea from Waegook Tom, whose blog is a hilarious account of a food-obsessed expat living and teaching in Taiwan (and formerly Korea). You should check it out. Right after you check out what I ate on Wednesday night at Bull City Burger and Brewery in Durham.
We needed a quick spot to eat in downtown Durham before heading to DPAC to see Lyle Lovett and his Large Band (great show, by the way!) so we headed to Bull City Burger and Brewery about three blocks away. There are tons of good restaurants in this area, but with a crowd in search of something fast and delicious (and not Moe’s) who doesn’t love a good burger?
As seen in my Durham Food Tour post, Bull City Burger is a casual restaurant and brewery that serves up grass-fed beef and makes nearly everything in-house. I got the Shadoe Burger, cooked rare- it’s topped with pimento cheese, vinaigrette slaw, and chimichurri. Because I need the heat, I blindly added one of their free toppings called Ghost of Rogers Alley Hot Sauce. And it was actually spicy, thank God. Oh and I got some duck frites, you know, because I had to. And those things were crispy, salty, and unforgettable.
Bull City Burger & Brewery is located at 107 East Parrish Street, Durham. It’s a convenient walk to DPAC or the Durham Bulls Stadium. You can sit at the bar or order at the counter, take a number, and then choose your seat inside or on the patio. There are endless burger topping combinations and sides are à la carte.
